Yesterday we finally got our kitchen remodel started. I know, it's pretty crazy to be doing this right before Christmas. We've been waiting for so long to get it started so we figured now is as good a time as any. I'll be posting some before and after pics once we finally get it all completed, most likely after the new year. Needless to say it's pretty crazy around here. I've never seen my house decorated for Christmas and yet so messy and cluttered at the same time! Oh, I can't wait to have it all done.
Today at lunch time I was sitting here in a rather chilly house (I guess I hadn't really bothered to heat the place up since it's just me here) waiting to hear from Chuck about lunch plans. He works about 10 minutes away from home so we usually eat together. It's actually a tradition we started with our last pregnancy two years ago. He started coming home at lunch to check on me, oh yeah, and bring me food! We've just kept it up even though some days it's not really practical. We like it though. It's nice for us both to have that midday break and do some catching up.
Anyway, today he came home with food - which was a really good thing considering the state of our kitchen! He walked in the door with piping hot chicken pot pies and wrapped me up in his toasty zip-up sweater he'd been wearing. We enjoyed our "picnic" lunch in the living room and chatted about our day so far: he talked about the upcoming Christmas party at work and I talked about all of your blogs I'd been reading this morning. Pretty standard activity around here, but those little things just warmed my heart today and made me realize that it really doesn't take a whole lot to lift a person's spirits.
I know that many of you are going through a hard time right now with the holidays and so many other things. You're all in my thoughts today and I've been spending lots of quiet moments praying for you lately. Feel free to leave any prayer requests here in the comments or email me at any time. I love hearing from you and I'm always here.

The little things help me too. I came home for lunch after a very hectic morning of phone calls and emails and was feeling a bit overwhelmed. Just by some of the silly little things you do, it made me forget about my problems for a little while. And my afternoon is starting off better after our little picnic. I love you!
Don't forget this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=q7NlLIpcNOk. :)
Stacey, WOW, do you realize what an AWESOME husband you have???!!! Without going into detail, just appreciate the God-given man you have. That is a sadness that some people live without everyday! And please understand me, I'm not saying that your life should be "perfect" because you have a great husband and not a child, I just mean, sometimes we have to look for our blessings that are around us because we take them for granted. But I know that you, of all people, appreciate what you have! It just makes me think that we all wish for stuff we don't have but forget what we do have!
Thanks Jenn, and YES I really do! I don't gush about it out of respect for my single friends who read this blog, but every now and again it's good to reflect on (and thank) the wonderful man who is by my side through this. He is an answer to prayer for me in so many ways and I do thank God for him!
Thanks for the comment!
Stace, I really appreciate your sensitivity to us single folks, but even more I'm glad to know that you appreciate what you have. I think sometimes I prefer the gushing to hearing women complain about marriage and their husbands.
And, Chuck, that link made MY day!
What a sweet moment with your hubby! I'm so glad that you have him by your side. I was thinking of you this morning. Praying while in the shower...don't take that any weird way. It's just a "quiet place" for me to pray. Prayed for you through today.
I love remodels and can't wait to see the pictures! I'm hooked on all of the home shows.
I also love the tradition of a mid-day break. How incredibly cute!
What a beautiful tradition. And Chuck what a sweet comment!! Hubby and I carpool to work to and from everyday. Those days that one person has to stay late and misses the carpool, it's sad because it's more fun to commute together. I'd imagine your lunches are more fun together too.
You are the sweetest person Stacey. I truly am so thankful for you.
~~~HUGS~~~
I eat lunch with Matt almost every day too! He works 10-15 minutes away and thankfully it's closer to 10 during the lunch hour since traffic isn't so bad. It's such a blessing for us to be able to spend all of that time with our husbands! When I start wondering if I made the right decision by being a stay-at-home wife I think of all the fun times and bonding experiences I would have missed with Matt and my family otherwise.
I appreciate your prayers and I've been praying for you as well :-)
Wow. I am totally going to have that song in my head for the next 3 days. (It is kinda catchy, though.)
You know...if you want some kind of faux finish in that kitchen, I know this chick in Katy. She'd probably give you a sweet deal if you mentioned my name.
Can't wait to see the end result! Keep the pics coming.
Good job, Chuck. I'm so glad you are part of the fam and that you take such good care of my girl. xoxo
I hope your kitchen remodelling flies by.
Always enjoy the little things in life!
(((hugs)))
Aww, how sweet that you had that moment.
You're a wonderful person. Thanks for always being so supportive of other people. (((HUGS)))
Thanks Katdish, be we already got a faux finish when they said they would be done in a day. :) Seriously, by the time the cabinets are finished and the back splash is installed, there will be approximately .02 SF of wall that will need to be painted.
Hey! I mentioned you on my post today. And by "mentioned you", what I mean is that "I shamelessly robbed the contents of this blog post for use as my own personal blog fodder".
wv: sucks (I am totally not kidding.)
"it really doesn't take much to lift a persons' spirit."
So true. Why don't we do it more often?
Thanks for the challenge. =) Good stuff!
