Quick Update and Reminder

I've been meaning to remind you all that the episode of Extreme Makeover Home Edition from our area is airing this Sunday evening on ABC! It's Easter Sunday, so be sure and set your DVR if you want to see it but will be traveling or at church services. The episode is 2 hours long. I'm so looking forward to watching the Beach family's story and I know you'll be touched by it, too. You might even be able to spot Chuck and myself in the crowd yelling, "Move that bus!" :)

I have a couple of little updates for you about the pregnancy. Things are still going well. I'll hit 15 weeks this weekend! I have been starting to feel nervous again because of the wait for our next ultrasound. We just placed the order today to rent a doppler. (Thanks so much for your suggestions and advice about that.) We look forward to having it here in a few days so we can listen to the heartbeat whenever we want. Hopefully that will help to calm my fears a bit.

In addition, today I decided to call to set up an appointment for an elective ultrasound. There is a place not far from where I live that does them. My state requires a doctor's consent before you can get one of these, so I'm still working on getting that done. If all works out I hope to have the appointment in about 3 weeks. It amazes me that we could find out our baby's gender by the end of the month! We still have the anatomy ultrasound scheduled with the OB's office on May 17, so we'll have another chance in case the little one doesn't want to cooperate. I think it will do us so much good to just have time to spend seeing the baby again and having the reassurance that he or she is still growing.

That's about it for now. Wishing you all a very happy Easter weekend!

I love reading your updates, Stacey! I'm rejoicing with you! It gives me so much hope as well.
I was just curious if you took any other meds during the beginning of your pregnancy such as baby aspirin, etc.
I don't know anything about femara. I think I will do a little research on that. Does your doctor feel like that was a help in this pregnancy going so well?
Still keeping your in my prayers!!!

Birdie,

Our current RE didn't have me taking anything other than prenatals. It felt strange since all former docs had us on all kinds of things, including baby aspirin and even Lovenox injections for 2 of our pregnancies. None of that seemed to do anything. It was kind of like starting from scratch. Once I was pregnant, he added the extra folic acid because of my MTHFR. All I'm on are vitamins and 5MG extra folic acid daily.

The Femara undoubtedly helped us to get pregnant. The doc never specified whether he thinks the pregnancy is doing well BECAUSE of it (I didn't think to ask him that before our time with him was up). We can't help but think it has something to do with it. At the very least, it helped us get started with a really good egg. I responded much better to Femara than the round of Clomid for the previous cycle.

I hope I've answered your question! Email me (or comment) any time if I can tell you anything else. Thanks for the continued prayers and support! Wishing you all the best.

Stacey, thanks so much for the info!! I didn't know about MTHFR until I just googled it. Is that just a simple blood test? I don't know if I've ever been tested for that. I've had a slew of blood work, but I'll have to check & see if that was one of them.
Thanks again!!

Happy Easter!

So glad you decided to rent a doppler and get an elective u/s - I think it will bring much peace of mind. I am rejoicing with you over the progress of this pregnancy! And as always, I continue to pray with you.

Also, thanks for the reminder about Extreme Makeover - I am looking forward to watching it tonight!

So happy you decided to put a pregnancy ticker on your blog. It is so cute.

I'm glad you're renting a doppler, that will surely ease your mind some. I have the MTHFR too, and I take Metanx daily (though I really only have to when I'm pg, but I'm always scared I will be and won't be taking the medicine, you know how that is!!).

I'm still praying you to the end, and think that making that extra u/s appt is such a great idea! Keep your mind at ease!

Happy Easter!

Stacey, that was an awesome episode of Extreme Home Makeovers. I usually cry at several points, but this one was especially inspiring because of their commitment to adopting special needs kids. I don't know that I could do 13, but I could start with one! Anyway, I looked for you guys and I think I saw you. Did you see yourselves? What fun!!

Eddie and I watched that episode last night...neat to know that you were there. That is one special family. I cried a couple of times during that episode.

Hey Stacey! I'm so glad things are progressing well.

I wanted to tell you that I watched the Extreme Makeover last night...it was so good. I wonder if you've had a chance to watch it yet. I looked for you and Chuck and didn't see you but then again I'm only working off a few blog posts with pictures so I could've easily missed you. It was incredible what they did to that house! Amazing.

I missed the beginning but parts of their story had me tearing up- what a wonderful family and so deserving of this home makeover!!! I hope you've gotten the dopplar & are enjoying the whosh whosh whosh of that little baby inside :)

And so it goes said...

Just thinking of you today, so thought I would say hi.
Did you get your Doppler? is it helping with peace of mind?

Stacey said...

Hey friends,

I need to post another update, but in case any of you are reading the comments, we did get the Doppler two days ago and it has been a huge blessing. We have heard the baby's heartbeat twice and it gives us great comfort. Thanks for checking! I'll post something soon.
